Oh no
So Aubrey was playing on the floor and just made the loudest high pitch squell (is that how you spell that). Anyway it even startled her it was so loud. This could be bad, now she knows what she's capable of. Great she just did it again, we may have a new sound coming from our little girl.
Cousins
Aubrey got to meet Caden at the lake this past weekend and he was sooo cute with her. Here's a video of him holding her and telling her about cannonballs. Because when asked if he could tell her anything about life what would it be? He replied cannonballs, of course he's a 4 year old boy what else would he tell her. Also pretty funny when we got in the pool Caden asked..."Can we sink her?" Nope we can't sink her. He also kept asking if she can walk and asking if she wanted a glass of milk. We told him she only drinks milk.

2 Month Check Up
Well we had Aubrey's 2 month check up this week and with that came shots, lots and lots of shot. Ok only 3 but you would have thought she had 15 with the blood curdling screams that came with the shots. Aubrey isn't much of a cryer. She cries when she's got gas and wimpers when she's hungry but that's about it. Well she decided to let everyone know in the doctor's office that she DID NOT like getting those shots. She SCREEEEEAMED and wouldn't stop when I picked her up. Nothing was working. Bouncing, cooing, shhhing, pacifier, nada. I finally got our stuff together (I was also there by myself) so screaming baby and getting diaper bag and car seat was a task. We went to a family waiting room where she was still screaming her lungs out, she calmed down when I nursed her and she wound up nursing for about a half hour. She fell asleep and we were on our way out. Woooh I was tired, I'm so thankful for such a happy baby that we don't have to listen to the screaming that often.
Sleeping before the apptointment, poor little girl doesn't know what she's got coming.
The updates, she's a fatty she weighs 13.9 lbs and she's still 24 inches long and her big 'ol head grew 3 cm (no wonder her hair bows are getting tight). I really like the doctor we have now and when she came in she said oh she looks like her daddy. Kyle hasn't met her yet so I didn't know what she was talking about but then she said she saw his picture in the newspaper. So yep definitely daddy's girl, some days I question if she's even mine, but then I see how she sleeps and I know she's got a piece of me in her too.Kyle had thought he could even do the shots, but I doubt it. I didn't cry when she was getting shots, it didn't bother me that much. She was so happy before the nurse pricked her, she was smiling, cooing and then once the needle went in she just had this look like HOLY CRAP THAT HURTS and then the wailing started. What killed me was taking the band aids off. Holy schmoly those suckers were on there good. I felt so bad tearing them off because she just kept screaming and screaming and I still had another leg to do. So I definitely know her "hurt" cry now unfortunately. She did pretty good with the shots too, she was a little sleepy but that's about it. So everybody is back to being happy and that's a good thing for everybody.
Sleepy baby from the shots.
I feel like she's thinking check out my hairband mom, aren't I cute? Too bad the hairbow left a bruise on her head, oooops. This is also pre-band aid rip off.Tuesday, August 24, 2010
Aubrey's First Vacation
We had a great time at the lake and I sooo wasn't ready to come home and back to reality. It was wonderful to spend time with the family and relax for a little bit. Aubrey did fabulous on our drive there and only cried a little bit when I was trying to switch highways in Nashville but other than that she was a great little traveler. She got to go swimming for the first time and loved it.
She even fell asleep in the pool.
She got her first sunburn. Bad mommy. I lotioned her all up and kept her in the shade but still somehow she get her little nose and cheeks red.
She did a lot of relaxing too and a lot of sleeping. On Aunt Kimmy...
On the beach...
Naked napping on the beach...
We kept her in the shade under an umbrella the last day and let her go swimming in a tub. I know she doesn't look happy but she really liked it and was even splashing.
See...
Grandma and Grandpa loved just staring at her and loving on her. We had a great time and I was sad to leave. I want to do it again this weekend :)Wednesday, August 18, 2010
Headed to the Lake!!!
We're going to a lake in Kentucky this weekend and meeting my family there. Aubrey and I are leaving in the morning and Kyle is going to meet us there Friday after his peds test (say a prayer he does a good job on his test and his presentation). I'm hoping the drive goes well tomorrow by ourselves. Luckily Aubrey usually falls asleep in the car so I'm banking on that. Kyle's going to spend the whole weekend fishing and I'm excited to finally get to go swimming!!! It's been an entire summer and I have yet to go swimming, I guess that's what I get for having a baby in June. I'm not super excited to get into a bathing suit but I got a new one so I'm not dreading it. Especially with my new ummm how do I say this nicely...HUGE TA-TAS! Haha, baby benefits from breastfeeding and so does mama! I'll leave you with an insanely adorable picture of Aubrey in her new swimming suit. You should have seen Kyle and I trying to get this thing on her, poor kid baby swimming suits are probably the hardest thing to get on. I think I'm going to invent a baby swim suit with snaps on the bottom, it would make it soooo much easier. Oh and my tubbo fit into a 12 month swimming suit, she's soooo dang cute if I must say so.

Fashionista
So Aubrey is already more fashionable than me. So I was reading People magazine the other day and was looking at the Bethenny Frankel interview, which those of you that have never seen Bethenny Getting Married you are missing out. She is the funniest pregnant person ever, she's hilarious. Anyway so I was looking at the picture and I noticed that Aubrey has the same dress as her baby Bryn. (Nothing to do with this, but oddly enough I looooved the name Bryn since I was in junior high and Kyle vetoed that name, I like Aubrey now better anyway). I looked all over online to find a picture of Bryn in the dress but couldn't find it anywhere. So yeah, my baby girl has more fashionable clothes than me, I've never owned anything that I've seen in a magazine. I do have to say I think Aubrey wore it better, haha.
Oh, P.S. she also has the same sleeper as Bryn that I've seen her wear on one of her shows. Oh Aubrey you fashion queen!

Having Fun with Grandma
My mom came into town this weekend and went with me to my 6 week check up which turned into 8 week check up actually. Doctor said I looked good and I did a good job healing, yay!!! Here are a few pictures from the weekend.
Relaxing with Grandma
Ready for my doctor's appointment and trip to Knoxville.
Hanging out on our porch with the neighbors. Yes that is our baby with no clothes on. It was hot outside and hey we live in Tennessee so we pretty much fit in.
The baby neighbors chilling on the couch.
I've tried flipping this picture like 10 times and can't figure it out, but she's got the cutest grin on her face, she's soooooo cute. Ok, ok, I'll stop bragging on my baby, that's kind of bad isn't it.
This was my outfit when I was a baby. My mom brought down pictures of me when I was a baby and she has this same picture with me. Aubrey does look a little bit like me when I was a baby, woo hoo maybe she really is mine!
She loves rocking Aubrey, but really who wouldn't.
Kyle has 1 week left of pediatrics and then he starts internal medicine next week. He will get to relax a little this weekend because we are meeting my family at a lake in Kentucky for the weekend. He'll get to finally do some fishing and relax for a bit. This will be our first trip away. I feel like I'm going to have to pack the entire house, it should be interesting. Aubrey and I are driving down on Thursday and Kyle is coming after work on Friday. We'll see how driving 2 hours with a baby goes by myself, but we're pretty lucky because she usually likes car rides and just sleeps. I'm hoping she'll be the same on Thursday. She does have an adorable swimsuit and can't wait to take her swimming for the first time!

Aidan and Aubrey Sitting in a Tree
Ok so not sitting in a tree but laying on a pull out couch, haha. Yep, these pictures were taken down at Alarie's on their pull out couch and Alarie's friend from college Kristen took their pictures and did an amazing job. After watching the babies get their pictures taken we've decided one naked baby is cute but TWO it doesn't get any cuter than that. We tried getting both of the kiddos asleep but once Aubrey finally fell asleep, Aidan decided it was time to wake up. They are just the cutest!
They both have beautiful baby blue eyes...
Aidan's got a gorgeous mommy and daddy too!
Aubrey loves her boyfriend, even though he may wind up being a Mizzou fan...
I think he was done. Are you finished taking pictures yet, Mom?
We're so lucky to live next to such awesome friends and it's neat that Aubrey already has a BFF for life.

Trying out nicknames
So Kyle has been trying out nicknames for Aubrey and I really don't think any of them work. I'll let you decide what you think.
Aubs
and Aubdog. I personally like Aubdog better but I really think she'll be really mad at us if we let this stick, haha. Oh and p.s. those are 3-6 month pajamas. Our baby is a hauss (however you spell that). Her legs are long like her mommas and all of her 0-3 sleepers we can't fit over her shoulders with her legs in them so I got out the 3-6 month box of clothes and she's starting to wear some of those :( The cute onesie from my last post is a 3 month too, I think I'm going to cry. I don't want her to get any bigger.

Aubrey's BFF
Aubrey went down to play with her boyfriend Aidan yesterday. We usually go down and visit Alarie and Aidan a couple times a day and see what they are doing. This time we put them both under the play mat and they were sooo cute. They were just talking to each other and staring at the lights. Check it out...
Today Aubrey and I went with Alarie and Aidan to get her hair cut. I watched the babies while Alarie got some much needed pampering, speaking of I need to go get my hair cut and I need some pampering time. Anyway, so Aidan and Aubrey were great they slept most of the time. They did wake up both at the same time right before Alarie got finished with her color and I was trying to keep both of them happy. I COULD NOT do twins, holy moly just for a few minutes that was a lot of work. It's funny how many people have asked if they are twins by the way. Any time one of us mommas is alone with both of them somebody usually asks if they are twins and we just say no just boyfriend girlfriend. Here's a picture of them napping at the salon.
I think she looked pretty darn cute for her first trip to a hair salon.

Fave Baby Items
I've promised my pregnant friends that I was going to do this post for a while so here it is. All the baby items that I couldn't live without. Of course these are different for each mom but this is just what has worked for us.
Lansinoh Soothies- I got these wonderful gel pads at the hospital, but if my hospital didn't provide them the next time around I would definitely pick some up. Pretty sure you can get them from Walmart or Target. The BEST thing for soreness with breastfeeding, it's like an ice pack for your boobs.
Along this line Lansinoh cream is also a must for breastfeeding mommas. Another must is a breast pump. Although I don't pump all the time it definitely helps when you're too full and need some emptying. I know I said "baby items" but if you're about to have a baby pick up a large thing of super pads. Trust me, you'll need them.
Newborn diapers- I was a cheap butt and thought we could do without and just use the size 1's that we had gotten as shower presents, but we had Colleen and Chuck go out and get us some newborn diapers that we didn't have to fold over.
The Boppy- It's great for nursing but what we also use it for is for Aubrey to lounge in or nap in. It's a safe and comfortable spot to put Aubrey when I need my hands.
Baby Gowns- They are the best thing for middle of the night changes. No snaps just lift it up and pull it back down. Definitely need this when you can barely sit up because you're so tired, you don't want to have to actually try and snap a sleeper together. Speaking of which snaps are easy to do during the day but I think in the middle of the night some of the snaps move places when you're not looking and make it impossible to match up. Snaps at 3 AM are the most frustrating thing so definitely the gowns are awesome!
Snap N Go Stroller- I love my travel system that my mom got us and we will definitely be using that stroller for longer trips and for walking, but this stroller has been great for quick trips to the store and stuff. It's lighter than the car seat and you can open it and close it with one hand. It only weighs about 8 lbs. It's definitely a lifesaver.
Car mirror- This gave me peace of mind the first time I drove with Aubrey by myself. I was so worried not being able to see her and this definitely calmed me down. Not to mention I drove with my hands at 10 and 2 and super slow, defnitely changes when you have precious cargo with you, speaking of should I add this to my list.
Haha, no I'm not one of those moms.
Water- I know this seems out of place on the list, but I made the mistake of not drinking enough and technically caused the recent problems I've had. Drink LOTS AND LOTS of it!!!
Bouncer- Some people may not be able to live without a swing but ours has been the bouncer. We don't even use the vibrating part, she's not a fan of being shook. We have used it whenever we've needed to do anything. We have a safe spot for her and we have our hands back for at least 15 min, woo hoo. This is often taken into our bathroom too so I can actually take a shower or do my hair. I even jump out of the shower put the pacifier back in and then hop back in, oh the life of a mom.
Last but not least, this has been our lifesaver. Our Pack N Play. Aubrey loved sleeping in the napper and we just recently took that off and she's sleeping in the bassinett like part. It has a night light that works once the napper is off. It's got vibrating, but Aubrey isn't really interested in that. It's also got sound which has Aubrey looooves. I press the rain button and she's back out. It has been great having her right by us to do middle of the night feedings and diaper changes. I think the first few nights I slept with my arm hanging inside the napper part holding the pacifier in her mouth that kept falling out. Which speaking of which I wanted her to use the soothie pacifiers like this.
It's supposed to be the most like a nipple, but it's hard for her to keep in. She now uses the NUK pacifiers and she can even put her hand by it and try to keep it in. I never thought I would be a mom that says oh that's her favorite pacifier, but I definitely am and I don't care. If it makes her happy, then I'm all for it. We also call the pacifier our 5 min. snooze button because in the morning we can put it in and know we have about 5 min. of sleep until it falls back out and she's back awake, so I put it back in and repeat the cycle.
So there's my list. At least it's everything I can think of for now. No babies are alike that's for sure though, Alarie and I are finding this out first hand. What works great for Aidan doesn't work for Aubrey and vice versa. Speaking of those two cuties, I've seen the pictures Alarie's friend has taken and I'm trying to get a copy of them so I can post them on here. They are absolutely adorable!!!
